Imbruglia hits the decks during trip
to Scots radio station and wows DJ
03 Feb 2005 - With Beverley Lyons And Cath Bennett
Aussie pop babe Natalie Imbruglia has been a model, singer and actress - and now she's shown she's a dab hand at DJing.
The former Neighbours star jetted into Scotland yesterday for an exclusive interview with Radio Clyde DJ Suzie McGuire.
But rather than just babbling on about herself, the 29-year-old was more interested in getting her hands on the mixing desk.
Suzie said: 'She's got the world at her feet - and to add to it all, she makes a great DJ.
'She had a go while she was in the studio. She even got the timing and everything right introducing songs.'
Natalie was in Glasgow for the first UK radio play of her new single, Shiver, the first release from new album Counting Down the Days.
The singer's hubby, Daniel Johns from Silverchair, produced the record and inspired many of the lyrics. But Natalie ruled out a full-on collaboration with her partner.
She said: 'My husband produced on the record and wrote on one of the songs. But recording a song together isn't something we'd do. He's got his own things going on.'
Natalie is hoping Counting Down The Days matches the success of her critically acclaimed first album, Left of the Middle, from which the single Torn became an anthem worldwide.
The new disc has taken four years to complete and in that time the singer has changed her management and musical team, switching to Sony BMG.
Natalie said: 'I like being away from it all and having time to get it right. But now I'm ready to go - I'm looking forward to getting back into it.'
The video for Shiver was shot in Europe and features a very sexy looking Natalie as a spy.
The singer, who starred in the spy-spoof Johnny English, said: 'It's really exciting and a lot of unexpected things happen in it.
'It looks like an advert for a film that doesn't really exist.'
Natalie is planning a tour for later this year and promised Scotland will be included. She said: 'I haven't got any dates in yet, but I'm sure I'll perform here.'
# Shiver is released on March 21, followed by Counting Down The Days on April 4.
