Natalie Imbruglia's filming
August 10, 2007
Aussie songtress Natalie Imbruglia will be
back home to star in a new movie.
The Torn singer will bring some glamour to the city of churches, spending
October in Adelaide filming the title role in new Australian indie flick
Elise.
The former Ramsay St resident has been linked to the project for more than
two years.
Elise is based on Aussie author Georgia Blain's novel Closed for Winter.
It will be Imbruglia's first big movie role and her most recent since
starring in the dubious spy spoof Johnny English alongside Rowan Atkinson in
2003.
"We'll see if I can pull it off," the beauty joked.
The movie is going into pre-production shortly, with Imbruglia to join after
she finishes spruiking her new album Glorious, which is out next month.
"I'm doing my own rehearsal period first, some research," Imbruglia said.
"I think shooting is four to five weeks. I can't wait. I've got no idea if
I'm going to be able to pull it off, which is quite exciting."
Imbruglia is also looking forward to the challenge of acting again.
"The actual character is so different to me.
So it'll actually be very hard because it's quite a still performance and
I'm quite over the top, loud and expressive so we'll see.
It'll be good to have a month back in Australia. Let's hope Dan's not in
Europe."
Dan, aka her hubby Daniel Johns, winds up his band Silverchair's tour with
Powderfinger in Newcastle on October 26.
The couple have been reunited in London this week at the end of
Silverchair's US tour.
The band's album Young Modern debuted at No. 70 in the US chart this week.
Johns has co-written two of the five new songs on Glorious, including the
poppy Be With You.
"When he's writing for me he's got a different hat on," Imbruglia said.
"He can do anything, let's face it."
