Natalie blends into city lifestyle

International celebrity Natalie Imbruglia is keeping a low profile during her stay in Adelaide, where she is starring in the feature film Elise.

Imbruglia, who is staying in a hotel in the CBD, was strolling the city streets yesterday in relative anonymity. Stopping to chat to The Advertiser on her way to an eastern suburb's gym, Imbruglia said rehearsals for Elise were going well. "I'm really loving it," the star said.

The wife of Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns was comfortable mingling with locals frequenting hip Rundle St nightclub Sugar last weekend, where she paid the $5 cover charge.
Obviously enjoying Adelaide's laid-back lifestyle, she has also dined at relaxed Gilbert St eatery Delish on a number of occasions. While Imbruglia spent more than $1000 at Hyde Park's Whistles, staff at the trendy boutique said she did not expect star treatment. "She was happy to do her own thing," boutique owner Anne-Marie Gaganis said. "She bought Sass & Bide and Karen Walker t-shirts, Whistles ballet flats and bikinis."

Based on the South Australian novel by Georgia Blain Closed for Winter , Elise is the first movie Imbruglia has made since she had a part in the 2003 British comedy Johnny English alongside comedian Rowan Atkinson.
The former soapie star played Beth Brennan in Neighbours before switching to singing and selling more than six million copies of her debut album Left of the Middle .
