She's one of the country's most successful exports, with accolades in music and film under her belt, but superstar Natalie Imbruglia has admitted she is racked with self-doubt about her upcoming film project.
The actor-turned-singer revealed her concerns before heading home from London to shoot the independent Aussie flick Elise in October - her first lead role since she starred alongside British comedian Rowan Atkinson in Johnny English four years ago.
"I've got no idea if I'm going to be able to pull it off - it's a challenge," Imbruglia said.
"It'll actually be very hard for me because it's quite a still performance and I'm quite over the top, loud and expressive."
The multi-talented entertainer will play Elise Silverton in the film about a woman haunted by the disappearance of her sister 20 years earlier, based on Georgia Blain's novel Closed for Winter.Imbruglia will head to Adelaide to start filming after she finishes promotional duties for her new singles collection Glorious.Having grown up in a small beach town on the Central Coast, Imbruglia said she was drawn to the role because it reminded her of her childhood.

As rockstar hubby Daniel Johns winds up his band Silverchair's tour with Powderfinger in Newcastle on October 26, the couple are hoping to spend some more time in Oz together after filming on the project wraps.
Long distance partners Johns and Imbruglia were reunited in London this week after the end of Silverchair's US tour, with the rockers hitting the Old Dart's Brixton Academy tonight in front of a capacity crowd.
"I went on the road with them, to New Jersey and New York - it is blowing up for them out there. It's a very exciting time," Imbruglia said.
