Branson wants Imbruglia for TV
October 20, 2007
He's
going green and she's red hot, which is why English entrepreneur Richard
Branson is trying to recruit Natalie Imbruglia to host a new eco-friendly TV
series. The flamboyant
billionaire launched his flagship television channel Virgin 1 at the start
of the month and Aussie actress Imbruglia is first up on Branson's list of
poaching priorities.
The Virgin chief is hoping to convince Imbruglia to switch to the small
screen to host one of the first new programs for the channel, a green
version of MTV's Cribs.
The premise is that instead of going to the houses of the ludicrously rich
and exposing their awful tastes, Imbruglia would reprimand the A-listers for
wasting so much electricity, gas and heat in their homes.
The former Neighbours actress is currently focusing on the big screen,
however, having arrived in Adelaide to begin rehearsals for the feature film
Elise. ``I'm really loving it,'' Imbruglia said this week.
Based on the novel by Georgia Blain's novel Closed for Winter, Elise is the
first movie Imbruglia has made since the 2003 comedy Johnny English.
