Imbruglia, Johns world apart
January 19, 2008

Just weeks ago they were one of the world's glamour rock couples. Now Natalie Imbruglia and Silverchair's Daniel Johns lead very different lives.
Stunning Imbruglia was photographed in a reflective mood when she stepped out on holidays in Hawaii this week while Johns was busy preparing with the bandmates in Sydney for today's start to the Big Day Out celebrations on the Gold Coast.
Across the Pacific, looking effortlessly gorgeous in a bikini, beach dress and pork pie hat, Imbruglia, 32, was spotted with a bevvy of male companions while taking time out by the seaside.
The London-based former Neighbours star and her Newcastle rocker husband took the world by surprise when they announced earlier this month that they had separated.
Just weeks earlier they had appeared happy at family Christmas celebrations, but they later said living in separate countries had taken its toll on the relationship.
Imbruglia has plenty to look foward to, with her fourth album due for release later this year. While Johns wrote and co-produced several songs for Imbruglia's last album Counting Down the Days, his only attachment to the new work is expected to be in references to him in the lyrics.
Johns and Silverchair will unveil their upsized 12-piece band today when Australia's biggest music festival begins its run.
They are also joined by longtime band member Paul Mac and keyboardist Adam, who joined Silverchair on the Across The Great Divide tour.
Johns said the ambitious big band was their "New Year present to ourselves''.
"The Big Day Out is our opportunity to do something we wanted to do but couldn't afford to do before,'' he said. "We feel that we're better than we've ever been so we're adding more ingredients.''
It has already been a big 12 months for the band, with their Young Modern album sweeping the ARIA awards and the irrepressible single Straight Lines still in the ARIA top 40 after 40 weeks.
